Free Wireless Internet Now Available Throughout Airport
Nolan Says LIMA Is First Tri-state Area Airport to Deliver Free WiFi To All Travelers throughout Entire Terminal and In Free Cell Phone Parking Lot

January 2010 - Free wireless access from Optimum WiFi is now fully available throughout Long Island MacArthur Airport (LIMA). LIMA is the first airport in the Tri-state region to offer free WiFi access to all patrons. Airport patrons using portable WiFi-enabled devices like laptop computers and Smart phones can experience limited free access to Optimum WiFi, while Optimum Online customers enjoy unlimited access.
In 2009, Islip Town Supervisor Phil Nolan inked an agreement with Cablevision to provide free Optimum WiFi wireless Internet access throughout the entire terminal and in the airport’s courtesy parking lot. Supervisor Nolan stated, “Other airports may have wireless hot spots here and there. Cablevision worked with us to deliver seamless connectivity throughout the airport - even in the courtesy parking area - all for free. We’re proud to be able to offer our patrons more service at no cost.”
“More and more, people are relying on wireless Internet access like Optimum WiFi to stay connected while away from home or the office, and travel-related locations are among the most popular areas of use,” said Cablevision Senior Vice President of Wireless Product Development Kevin Curran. “Cablevision is pleased to be able to make fast and free wireless Internet connectivity available throughout Long Island MacArthur Airport, which we think is going to be an important and valuable service for travelers and visitors alike.”
Commissioner Rizzuto said, “Travelers have been telling us that WiFi is the number one new amenity they want, so delivering this service was our top priority. Another priority - making sure the sign on process is easy. We are delighted with the new sign-on system, which is as simple as: start, select, sign in, and surf. More proof that at Long Island MacArthur Airport ‘we make flying a breeze.’ ”
