Help Give Returning Soldiers
A Hometown Hero’s Welcome at MacArthur

Every soldier returning from deployment in Afghanistan, Iraq, and other hot spots around the world deserves a heartfelt welcome home.  That’s why the Town of Islip created the “Hometown Hero” Welcome Program at Long Island MacArthur Airport, which is owned and operated by the Town, and partnered with the Patriot Guard Riders and Blue Star Mothers of Long Island  to provide a very special welcome for these American patriots.
We are proud to help welcome home our returning veterans who have served their county abroad.” Since early 2009, the Town has coordinated “Welcome Home” festivities at MacArthur Airport for nearly 100 combat veterans and active duty military who hail from all across Long Island.

If you know of a returning veteran or active duty military who would benefit from a “Hometown Hero’s Welcome,” contact Councilman John Cochrane Jr.'s, office at (631) 595 - 3910, and speak with his assistant, Marlene Johnson.
